HEDS is searching for a full-time Survey Administration Coordinator. This position is for in-person work at the HEDS offices at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
Responsibilities
The Survey Administration Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director. As part of a collaborative team, the Survey Administration Coordinator, like all HEDS Staff members, will:
- Communicate clearly with their colleagues at HEDS and external constituencies.
- Actively listen to and support their HEDS colleagues and maintain a collegial work environment.
- Effectively manage priorities in their work and meet the expectations of supervisors.
- Demonstrate attention to detail in their work and use or create processes to check the accuracy of our work.
- Take responsibility for mistakes and incorporate feedback to improve performance.
- Provide courteous, supportive, high-quality customer service and support to the institutions that use our services.
- Gain familiarity with the range of HEDS surveys and survey reports: what the different surveys ask, what populations they are used for, when the administration windows are, what kinds of reports we generate for each survey, and what the reporting timelines are.
- Write clear prose appropriate for the people who use HEDS services and reports.
- Seek out information in research literature and the higher education press to learn more about higher education.
- Creatively engage in just-in-time problem solving to help solve data, analyses, and reporting issues.
- Seek out information to better understand the software, data storage mechanisms, and survey engine that HEDS uses to provide its services.
In addition, the Survey Administration Coordinator will:
- Set up, test, revise, and open surveys, on time and without errors, using our online survey engine and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
- Effectively communicate with survey liaisons at institutions about all aspects of the survey process.
- Download and send preliminary data files to institutions.
- Carefully manage survey files and folders in cloud storage to ensure proper naming, organization, and confidentiality.
- Identify and communicate issues, problems, feedback, and areas for improvement in our work to the HEDS directors.
Additional qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
- Basic understanding of descriptive statistics such as means, standard deviations, and correlations.
- Basic skills with Microsoft Excel and interest in and willingness to learn how to use more advanced features.
- Willingness to learn how to use our survey engine and statistical software, such as SPSS or JMP.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues on assignments and projects.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy work environment.
